A group prayer was held in the Bronx on Sunday ahead of the verdict out of Minnesota, where former officer Derek Chauvin is on trial over the death of George Floyd.
Dozens of residents started the prayer walk in Co-Op city. They say they prayed for Chauvin to be held accountable in Floyd's death.
Many participants say they are also praying that no one ruins the community if the jury brings down an innocent verdict.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark says there will be an increased police presence throughout the city in the event of riots or looting, but she also called on the clergy for the spiritual aspect.
Clark says as a prosecutor, she is sure that the verdict will come down guilty, but she has to prepare the borough just in case - on a physical and spiritual level.
Closing arguments in Derek Chauvin’s murder trial begin Monday and the verdict is expected this week.
