Police are on the hunt for two men who they say opened fire on and attempted to rob an off-duty officer in Soundview.

According to investigators, the officer was getting out of his BMW on Thieriot Avenue at around 8 p.m. Wednesday when the suspects approached him. The officer returned fire on the men as they fled the scene, but no one was shot.

The cop, who works for a citywide agency, was taken to the hospital as a precaution with ringing in his ears.
