Authorities in New York City are on alert following a disturbing incident in Central Park, where a woman was attacked with a hammer.

The incident, occurring near West 64th Street and Center Drive, adds to a string of reported random assaults on women in the borough, fueling concerns about safety in the area.

According to police reports, the attack took place shortly after midnight on Monday morning. An unidentified individual approached a 39-year-old female and struck her in the back with a hammer in what authorities describe as an unprovoked assault.

The victim sustained minor injuries. A source with the NYPD said the suspect, before fleeing the scene on a moped, reportedly uttered chilling words to the victim, saying, "nobody’s going to find you here."

This recent attack is just one of several troubling incidents in Central Park. Actor Michael Stuhlbarg was targeted in a rock-throwing attack the previous night, leading to the arrest for assault.

Two robberies occurred at the same location on 64th Street, involving three unidentified individuals who displayed firearms before stealing property from two males.

The hammer attack follows a pattern of reported random assaults on women in Manhattan, with some expressing concerns on social media platforms like TikTok. Another incident involved a 23-year-old woman who was hit in the face, resulting in the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect.

Police have launched an investigation into the Central Park hammer attack, but as of now, no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
