A hateful spray-painted message was discovered by police in Brooklyn's 88th Precinct.
The words "kill cops" were spray-painted onto the sidewalk near Grand and Park avenues in Clinton Hill near a sheet metal factory.
Police say they think it may be old graffiti but some locals say otherwise.
Police have not released any names of possible suspects.
