Headlines: $2M in Bronx fire aid, car into lake, children rescued from fire

Gov. Kathy Hochul says $2 million will be put towards assisting victims of the deadly fire in the Bronx. Help will be provided with case management services, personal property replacement, relocation and rental assistance. The fire killed 17 people and left more than 40 injured.
Divers in Mahopac Falls braved the icy waters of a lake off of South Lake Boulevard after responding to a report of a vehicle submerged. They say it happened just before midnight on Saturday. The vehicle was about 25 feet off-shore and roughly 10 feet under the ice cold water. The vehicle was removed from the lake and no passengers were found.
Three Spring Valley police officers are being honored after a heroic rescue of three children from a fire. Officers Andrew Cole Hatchard and Robert Romano along with Detective Matthew Galli were given the Distinguished Service Award after finding the kids in a bedroom under a blanket. The fire had been caused by a gas stove and the mother had been injured.
