A new city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene report shows that Brooklyn and city immigrants? health declines faster than other residents.

In an effort to keep all residents healthy, the health department has stepped up efforts to enroll all residents into health insurance programs. According to the report, immigrants are less likely to have a primary care provider and twice as likely to report being unable to get care when they need it.

The health department has also launched multilingual awareness campaigns about tuberculosis, colonoscopies, emergency planning and products that contain lead or mercury. The report, which health officials claim is the first comprehensive analysis of the health of foreign-born New Yorkers, will be released Friday.
