The Health Department is investigating a cluster of COVID-19 cases linked to the music festival held on Randall’s Island over Labor Day weekend.

City health officials: COVID-19 cases on the rise as new variant emerges
233ds agoThe Health Department is investigating a cluster of COVID-19 cases linked to the music festival held on Randall’s Island over Labor Day weekend.
At least 16 people have been identified in the cluster.
Health officials are urging those who attended the Electric Zoo music festival to get tested immediately.
Electric Zoo was held Sept. 3 through Sept. 5. Electric Zoo required attendees to provide either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test but did not require a mask.
Dr. Priya Nori says that even if you’re vaccinated, you might want to put your mask on at events that get crowded.
In 2019, Electric Zoo brought over 100,000 concert-goers to Randall’s Island.
“If we cannot ensure that individuals are 6 feet apart or more at these events then yes I would add on masking,” said Dr. Nori.
Dr. Nori emphasizes that this does not mean the vaccines aren’t working.
“The individuals that I’ve been speaking to who have these cases develop even after the vaccine are by and large doing fine,” said Dr. Nori.
Health officials are asking anyone who attended Electric Zoo to get tested.
