A nutrition program originally designed to promote wellness and healthy eating is now a source of survival for some residents of the Bronx.
The Soundview Health Network was originally designed to educate residents about healthy eating and fighting obesity. But during this economic downturn, the program has turned into a source of nutrition for people struggling to feed their families.
A spokesperson for the program says Soundview Health Network will continue to provide Bronx residents with groceries every week to the best of their ability. The demand is increasing steadily, though, with hundreds of people lining up to receive food each week.
