Brooklyn residents who live on high-traffic streets may be less happy than those on quiet streets, according to a new study.

Transportation Alternatives surveyed homeowners throughout the borough. The group found respondents in areas like Brooklyn Heights, which has seen more traffic over the years, experienced a poor quality of life. The homeowners were less likely to go outside, slept less, spent less time with their children and had fewer friends.

Many residents blame commercial truck traffic on their small streets.
