Assemblyman Dov Hikind is calling on the NYPD to have a stronger police presence in the Jewish community.
Hikind says Jewish institutions, synagogues and schools like Touro College need armed guards posted to protect the large potential targets. He went on to say global terror events dictate the necessity for more security at Jewish institutions.
Hikind also said since two NYPD officers were killed in Brooklyn, police now work in pairs - which means they are unable to spread out and cover more individual locations.
News 12 reached out to NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton about the assemblyman's comments and is waiting for a response.
Bratton has said in the past that the NYPD is keeping a close eye on possible threats to the city in light of recent terror attacks.
