News 12 spoke with the wife of 42-year-old Kevon Lee, the man who was killed in a shooting at a Flatlands laundromat on Memorial Day morning.

Lee's wife says she wants to remain anonymous for safety reasons. She said she was standing next to Lee when he was fatally shot.

“The person just start shooting him again. I said, 'Babe get up, get up, get up' while he’s still shooting him," she said.

A nurse herself, she says she tried to save him.

“I raised up his shirt, about to do CPR and compressions, but his eyes were already gray," she said.

Sources close to the investigation believe the shooter was targeting Lee and he was shot in the chest and stomach.

Police say the shooting happened around 8 a.m. on Monday, and a 68-year-old man was hit by shrapnel on his foot. He is expected to be OK, but Lee later died at the hospital.

His wife says they've been together since she was a teenager and that they have three kids together, saying her kids are struggling with the loss.

"Last night, he asked, 'where is daddy? I want daddy to come home,'" she said.

She says she can't think of why or who would do this.

"He was a family man. Love his kids dearly, love me," she said.
