Police say a sixth-grader was struck by a car and seriously injured Thursday in Homecrest.
The sixth-grader, a student at Cunningham Intermediate School, was crossing at about 7 a.m. - at a time when no crossing guard is on-duty. Parents in Homecrest are calling for changes to fix what they say is a late start time of 7:30 a.m. for crossing guards.
The principal of Cunningham Intermediate School says she's already requested an additional guard and asked for them to begin at 7 a.m.
The injured student was taken to Kings County Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
