STORM WATCH: Heat, haze and a few storms today for Brooklyn

Here’s what you need to know:
  • No advisories at this time.
  • It's mild, partly sunny and muggy this morning. Temperatures are in the low to mid-70s. Air quality levels are moderate and expected to stay at moderate levels through this afternoon. It's advised to still limit strenuous outdoor activities due to the reduced air quality.
  • Today will be another very warm and humid day with some haze. Highs will be in the mid-80s inland and 70s at the coast.
  • Wildfire smoke from Canada will continue to bring some haze through this afternoon.
  • An approaching cold front brings a few scattered showers/storms this afternoon/evening. The timing is after 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Severe storms will stay north of the city. However, a few downpours, gusty winds and a rumble of thunder is expected.
  • This weekend will be warm with highs in be mid to upper 70s. Another round of widely scattered showers and t-storms arrive Saturday midday through the early evening. Saturday won't be a washout; these storms will be hit or miss. The timing is after 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday will be the drier half of the weekend. It will be warm and pleasant with more clouds in the sky for the Puerto Rican Day Parade.
  • Temperatures will be slightly above seasonable in the upper 70s to low 80s next week. It turns unsettled Monday night into Tuesday with chances of showers and storms.
