Housing activists gathered at the Downtown Brooklyn courthouse Tuesday to call for an extension of the moratorium on evictions.
Advocates from Brooklyn Eviction Defense and the Crown Heights Tenant Union passed out information regarding tenants' rights after the moratorium ended over the weekend.
One activist said that it should be extended until June 30.
“Throwing people in the streets is not a solution to the crisis. It’s only a recipe for more crisis,” he told News 12.
The Rent Stabilization Association said it was time for the moratorium to end. They are urging the state to do more to help tenants who can’t pay their bills.
