The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning in New York City ahead of Tuesday's snowfall. A travel advisory is also in effect starting tonight, and the city says they began planning for this storm last week. Part of the city's plan is to focus on keeping public transportation ready for anything.

The MTA says they will have crews positioned to spread salt, clear snow, and respond to any damages or emergencies that could hinder public transportation schedules.

"The subways and commuter rails are deploying snow fighter trains, tow trucks, de-icing systems to protect the tracks and the switches, that's the key tracks and switches," said MTA CEO Janno Lieber.
