The frigid weather didn't stop hundreds of people from participating in the annual Polar Bear Plunge in Coney Island on New Year's Day.
Those taking the plunge dashed into waters just barely above freezing at 38 degrees on the coldest New Year's Day in 100 years.
"I feel like it was a great experience," said one participant. "And it's a good memory."
The annual event raises money for charities including, the Alliance for Coney Island, The New York Aquarium and others, according to the Associated Press.
