Hundreds of Brooklyn cyclists made their way to Red Hook Sunday for the annual Tour de Brooklyn.
The 21.5-mile bike tour starts in Red Hook and heads east to Canarsie before looping back to Red Hook.
The event is organized by nonprofit group Transportation Alternatives. Its members say that getting riders out in large numbers is not only fun, but brings attention to the importance of sharing the roads and rider safety.
Cycling vendors from Red Hook and surrounding neighborhoods set up a pop-up marketplace at the finish line, where riders could get advice and shop for new gear.
One of the local vendors says the tours are great for building the community.
For those still wishing to ride, registration is now open for the Tour de Queens, which will be held in July.
