More than 800 people made a dash into the Atlantic Ocean yesterday during Brooklyn's annual Polar Bear Plunge.
The chilly event was put on by the Coney Island Polar Bear Club, which partnered with Camp Sunshine, a Maine-based charity that helps families with sick kids.
Some participants say the water is symbolic of cleansing and starting anew, putting them on the right track for the new year.
