Anthony Echevarria is speaking out after his wife, 39-year-old Michelle Montgomery, was found dead on Sunday at a NYCHA complex in Williamsburg.

“It’s crazy,” said Echevarria. “I don’t even think it’s real. I think she’s going to come [home] through that [apartment] door.”

A memorial sits outside 330 Bushwick Ave., where police sources told News 12 that Montgomery's body was found in a garbage bag in the compactor room.

A maintenance crew cleaned that compactor room on Tuesday, while investigators were back on the scene.

“I can’t understand why [my wife] was there,” said Echevarria.

He told News 12 that Montgomery left their Boerum Hill apartment Saturday night to hang out with friends.

“I trust [Montgomery’s] judgement 110 [percent],” said Echevarria. “I don’t even look past it, go investigate the who, what, when, and why; because I trust her judgement. I trust how she moves.”

Echevarria said the last time he heard from his wife was 9:30 p.m. - about 12 hours before police said her body was discovered.

“She went about her Saturday normal, watched a couple of movies, talked on the phone,” said Echevarria. “Kids gave her a hug. [I said] ‘Babe, be safe. I love you.’ That was it.”

Echevarria said Montgomery would make holiday gift bags for neighborhood children and was a great mother of four kids - the youngest being just 10 months old.

“We will get justice,” said Echevarria. “I promise that.”

The medical examiner’s office told News 12 that they conducted an examination on Monday, but they have not yet released the official cause of death.
