A Hyde Park school board member is facing a felony assault charge following an incident at the Culinary Institute of America, and the district is now reviewing whether she can remain on the board.
Cheryl Frazier-Woods, 62, was arrested Oct. 12 in connection with the incident at the culinary college in Hyde Park.
According to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, Frazier-Woods is charged with second-degree assault for allegedly intending to cause physical injury to another person with a weapon or instrument.
In an Oct. 20 letter to district families, Hyde Park Board of Education President Michael Zagorski acknowledged the arrest and said the board is reviewing whether Frazier-Woods can continue serving as a trustee.
Details surrounding the alleged assault, including what led to the incident and what weapon or object was allegedly involved, remain unclear.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to News 12 that Frazier-Woods is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, Oct. 22, at 4:30 p.m. in Hyde Park Town Court.
