The mother of a woman killed in Crown Heights spoke with News 12 Sunday before her daughter’s accused killer appears in court on Monday.
News 12 previously reported 42-year-old woman Delia Johnson was shot and killed on Aug. 4, 2021 in Crown Heights.
Graphic surveillance video shows a woman, who police say is Claudia Banton, get out of a car that was double-parked on Franklin Avenue, walk right up to Johnson, point the gun to her head and pull the trigger before calmly walking away and driving off.
Delia Berry, Johnson's mother, tells News 12 the family knew Claudia Banton prior to the shooting.
Johnson's accused killer Claudia Banton was arrested in November of 2021 and faces a murder charge, but Delia Johnson's mother tells News 12 that multiple court postponements have delayed what she says should be justice.
Berry tells News 12 it's also delayed the family's peace.
"I'm tired mentally, physically, emotionally. I get up in the middle of the night walking back and forth in the house crying," said Berry.
Banton is expected in court on Monday.
