The lawyer for a pregnant woman claiming police brutality met with prosecutors at the Kings County District Attorney's Office this week.
According to attorney Sanford Rubenstein, there will now be an independent investigation into the incident, which will not involve the NYPD.
The ordeal was captured on video by the group El Grito as Sandra Amezquita, who is five months pregnant, ended up on the ground belly-first during a struggle with officers in Sunset Park. A second woman also attended the meeting, claiming she was pushed by police during the same altercation.
Police say Amezquita was trying to interfere with the arrest of her 17-year-old son.
