An injured soldier has finally returned home to Brooklyn after waiting nearly three years for his medical discharge to be approved.

Army Spc. Sam Angert, 22, says it's good to be back after four years of combat and recovery in Iraq. He was deployed soon after joining enlisting in 2008 at just 18 years old.

According to Angert, he was almost killed when an explosive device hit a vehicle he was driving in the south Baghdad Province. He suffered severe skull damage, vision loss and was in a coma for close to three weeks.

Angert says that despite everything, he's determined to maintain a positive attitude and live as a normal person. He hopes to pursue a college degree in psychology or social work.
