Federal prosecutors in New York charged 36 people Wednesday, including 15 from Brooklyn, in one of the largest-ever insurance fraud busts.
Investigators say the scheme robbed private insurance companies of more than $279 million and relied on corrupt medical professionals. They say three of the Brooklyn suspects are doctors.
The defendants face a maximum of 30-70 years in prison if convicted.
