ICE Homeland Security Investigations New York arrested an alleged MS-13 associate in Brentwood.
Investigators say 42-year-old Jamie Manual Perez Perez was arrested on Sept. 3.
Investigators say he's wanted in El Salvador and by Interpol for aggravated extortion and threats to injure a person.
Perez was arrested during a traffic stop last week in Brentwood.
Last Wednesday, community activists said masked immigration agents were seen at Brentwood High School.
Investigators say he was found to have been living just steps from a Long Island middle school.
ICE says U.S. Border Patrol initially stopped Perez in El Paso, Texas in 2019, after they say he illegally entered the U.S. Border Patrol officials issued him a notice to appear at removal proceedings, with an individual hearing scheduled for February 2026.
"I'm highly concerned that we have MS-13 people walking around the community creating a potential threat to anybody," says Brentwood resident Patrick O'Leary.
He's being held by ICE pending his removal from the U.S.
