? Drivers who enter the Jackie Robinson Parkway in East New York will have to make a detour as work begins on the roadway Friday.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) will shut down the parkway from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday to demolish two deteriorating bridges. The closure affects exits one to four eastbound and exits four to two westbound. The DOT advises motorists to take the Belt Parkway, or Myrtle or Jamaica avenues. Drivers are also advised to be careful where they park because side streets will be deemed no parking zones during the work.
While drivers understand it is necessary to close the parkway to demolish the bridges, which could fall on passing cars if they?re left standing, they still say it will be an inconvenience.
