Alumni of James Madison High School honored one of their own in a very special way by renaming a section of Bedford Ave.
The renaming for former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg took place right outside the school she graduated from in 1950.
“When it comes down to it, it’s a Brooklyn story and it’s Brooklyn all the way,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.
Alumni of the school say that it took years to get the street renamed, but it was worth the wait.
“Right up until her death, she was a proud supporter of James Madison High School and the alumni association,” said alumnus Jane. “It's been a long time coming.”
Students tell News 12 that her legacy goes beyond being a Supreme Court justice, playing a key role in the classroom.
