A JetBlue flight headed for Florida made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport after reporting engine trouble.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says that JetBlue flight 543 took off from Newark headed to West Palm Beach around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday but had to turn around about 10 minutes later due to engine failure. The aircraft reportedly had smoke in the cockpit.

Officials say that the plane landed safely and passengers and crew members were evacuated using the plane’s slides. No injuries were reported.

“Safety is JetBlue’s top priority. We are focused on supporting our customers and crewmembers and will work closely with the appropriate federal authorities to investigate what occurred,” a spokesperson for JetBlue wrote in a statement to News 12.

The airport was temporarily closed and departing flights were grounded. The airport reopened and normal operations resumed around 7 p.m.
