One of the traditions of Passover includes cleaning out the home, but some Jewish leaders are warning community members to be mindful of how they discard sacred religious writings and objects.
Jewish law says sacred objects and writings must be buried when they can no longer be used, but that's not really an option for most families in Brooklyn.
This time of year, trucks often show up offering to bury sacred objects for a fee.
However, Assemblyman Dov Hikind said some of those sacred writings and objects were discarded on the street in Borough Park.
He has suggested that it's better to hold onto sacred items than to hand them over to strangers.
