Elected officials and community members gathered in Bay Ridge to celebrate the reopening of the playground at John J. Carty Park.

The reopening follows a major $5.4 million renovation of the play space and amenities and includes a new playground, seating, landscaping, game tables and more.

Organizers tell News 12 the project took three years to complete.
