The U-Haul driver accused of running over nine people has now gone before a judge.

The judge says Weng Sor, 62, must go through a mental evaluation. This comes after he told police he saw an invisible object coming toward him and that's when he decided to go on a violent rampage through Brooklyn.

Sor now faces one count of murder and seven counts of attempted murder after barreling through Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights hitting pedestrians and moped drivers Monday morning.

Police officers scrambled to get kids and teachers near the area to safety. Their quick thinking sent them straight to Bay Ridge Prep. With the U-Haul just blocks away, those officers arrived to find children playing outside.

“We just rushed out of the car. We tried to usher as many into the school. We were explaining to the staff what was going on," one officer said. “They were frantic. They didn't know what was going on, but everyone did move swiftly and the parents and teachers did a phenomenal job with us.”

Sor led the NYPD on a chase ending in Red Hook steps away from the Battery Tunnel.

Police say Sor rented the U-Haul in South Miami just days before. The vehicle mowed over and killed a single father of three. The family members of the remaining eight victims are still left in disbelief and heartache following the horrific attack.

Police say that during his arrest, Sor told them they should've just shot him. His next court date is March 16.
