A judge has ruled that construction of a stalled Brooklyn Bridge Park project can proceed.
According to the New York Times, Justice Lawrence Knipel decided that developers were within their legal rights in blocking portions of the Brooklyn Bridge from view to people on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
The judge concluded that the government made "a conscious decision" to allow the Pierhouse development at its current height for reasons of economic sustainability.
Knipel also said that opponents failed to file their challenge within the allotted time.
The construction of Pierhouse, a hotel and condominium complex, is now nearing completion.
