'If I didn't have a primary, I wouldn't care.' - Rep. Engel responds to comment caught on News 12 mic:  Rep. Eliot Engel was caught by a News 12 microphone during press event saying something that could be damaging to his re-election hopes. In just three weeks – Rep. Engel faces several challengers looking to unseat him in Congress, representing New York's 16th District in the Bronx and Westchester. This afternoon, the congressman asked Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. if he could speak at a press conference after a night of looting and racial unrest in the Bronx. The exchange was caught by News 12 microphones.
6 months later: Ansonia police say probe into toddler’s disappearance remains ‘very active’:  Tuesday marks six months since the start of a nationwide search to find Vanessa Morales – a 1-year-old who became the subject of an Amber alert after her mother was found killed. Ansonia police say they are continuing to follow up on tips in the case. They believe Vanessa Morales is alive. Police are reminding the public to be on the lookout for items that were used in her daily care and missing from her home – including a car seat, a blanket and a backpack that contained a diaper bag.
Washington Heights fire chief faces backlash for alleged racist comments made on Facebook:  A fire chief in Washington Heights is under scrutiny for racist remarks he allegedly made on Facebook. Outraged viewers shared screen grabs of those comments with News 12 where Washington Heights Fire Department Chief Chuck Healy allegedly refers to protesters as "pavement apes." Town Supervisor Frank DenDanto condemned the remarks and said he will demand disciplinary action be taken.
