Kensington neighbors say the homeless population in their area is getting out of control and are seeking long-term help.

They say that the homeless population treats the sidewalk like their own personal living space.

One residents says that one homeless person in particular is leaving behind garbage, blocking the sidewalk and yelling at people as they walk.

Neighbors say the encampment has been in its current location for about a week, including shopping carts and suitcases.

City officials say they will not just throw away the items without notifying who owns them.

Officials say it can take months to convince a homeless person to get help with things like housing and mental health. The city's Department of Homeless Services says they are working on issues, and canvassing the neighborhood daily.
