Frank Bisignano, CEO of the Internal Revenue Service and a Brooklyn native, donated $250 to the Trump Accounts of children 2 to 8 years old living in the 11234 zip code, including parts of neighborhoods like Mill Basin, Bergen Beach and Flatlands.
The Bisignano Family Fund made the donation.
“That’s fantastic that Brooklyn finally got something because usually Brooklyn is at the bottom," said residents like Lynne Kaplan.
The announcement was made on Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Academy in Bergen Beach. Bisignano grew up in the neighborhood.
“It’s as simple as I love 11234. I believe every one of these children are exactly who I was," said Bisignano.
Bisignano says it's one of the most populated zip codes in the country.
The investment accounts include a $1,000 contribution from the federal government for children born between 2025 and 2028.
"It's starting when you're young. It's an IRA for children that will convert to an IRA at 18 and can be a 7-digit number during their lifetime," said Bisignano.
There are nearly 70 million total Trump accounts.
“That would have been nice if my parents had money to do something. Anything that will benefit the children is fantastic," said Kaplan.
To claim the contributions, parents and legal guardians need to activate their child's Trump Account.
