Some Flatlands residents are being let back into an apartment building that had been deemed unsafe.
A total of 47 families were evacuated from their homes at 3405 Kings Highway Monday night after reports of cracks in the structure. A portion of the building has since been secured enough for most to return home, but 13 families are still unable to.
Tenants believe the damage is related to the construction of a medical office next door. The company, Bohemia Concrete Corporation, is now facing a number of violations, including failure to protect adjoining structures during excavation operations.
The super of the building says he first called 311 when he noticed cracks in the building 10 days ago.
