Commuters who take the L train may have to make other travel plans this weekend.
The L train is shutting down for scheduled service repairs starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday and lasting until Monday at 5 a.m.
During that time, it will only run from Canarsie to the Lorimer Street stop in Williamsburg. It will only be the first of six weekends that the train will not go into Manhattan.
The service change is something that Brooklyn business owners along the line have been dreading. Many are offering a MetroCard discount, meaning customers who come despite being unable to take the L will get $2.75 off their purchase, which is equal to the cost of a subway ride.
There will be a shuttle bus that will run from Lorimer Street to the Marcy Avenue stop. Uber will also be offering pool rides to and from Williamsburg for $5.
The weekend disruptions will continue through May 18.
