Late Bronx rapper Fred The Godson honored with street naming

The late Bronx rapper died in April of 2020 from the coronavirus.

Bronx residents are honoring late rapper Fred The Godson with a new street name. 
Community members gathered to honor the rapper Monday. Posted at the corner of Leggett Avenue and Kelly Street is now a sign that says ‘Fred The Godson’ Thomas Way. 
The late Bronx rapper died in April of 2020 from the coronavirus. He was known for his sharp punchlines, clever wordplay and community service. 
Leaders in the hip-hop community like Bronx natives Fat Joe and Jim Jones, as well as Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. attended the street naming to show their support. 
After his death, the rapper's family created the Fred The Godson Foundation. The foundation aims to make a difference in the Bronx community with a focus on health and wellness. 
Monday was also Fred the Godson’s birthday. He would have turned 36 years old.
