The Kings County District Attorney's Office is making the law more accessible to Brooklyn residents with neighborhood offices.
The DA's office has been setting up satellite offices around the borough over the past two years. The Diana H. Jones Senior Center is one such neighborhood office. Every Tuesday, representatives come to the Bushwick center to speak to citizens. They say the practice takes the intimidation out of the legal process.
Helen Newton went to the DA's office for help after she says a furniture store ripped her off. "I paid the balance of the money and was looking for them to deliver the furniture out and they disappeared on me," Newton said.
Officials say the satellite offices have been so successful, they plan to open a 20th center on Wednesday, May 30 in Brooklyn Heights.
