Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin and his running mate Allison Esposito visited Hastings-on-Hudson for their “Fire Kathy Hochul Rally” campaign event on Sunday.

"I believe that Kathy Hochul is doing a worse job than any other governor I can remember. I believe New York is heading in the wrong direction. If she has four more years, we will experience what rock bottom is like. This is about restoring balance and common sense to the state capital,” Zeldin said.

The New York State Democratic party fired back at Zeldin in a statement of its own, saying, "New Yorkers need to know that Lee Zeldin voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Zeldin's involvement with far-right groups and his extreme, anti-Democratic agenda make him unfit to be governor. He is the wrong choice for New York."

Alison Esposito, an Orange County native and former NYPD commanding officer who left the force to run for lieutenant governor, maintains she and Zeldin are the right choice for New York.

"The first day, we will be sending a very clear message to all of New York state that this administration supports the rule of law and our law enforcement,” Esposito said.

Just days after being assaulted by a man at a campaign event, Zeldin said he's doing fine and ready to get back to business and to become the state's 58th governor.
