A car crash on a Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on-ramp killed one person and injured another today.
The crash happened at around noon near Exit 27 near Atlantic Avenue and Hicks Street in Cobble Hill.
Police say they tried to stop Leroy Samuel, 22, in a black Infinity sedan at a traffic stop but he took off.
Investigators say the officers were on foot and didn't chase the car. Samuel then allegedly fled onto the BQE, taking Exit 27.
Witnesses say a flatbed tractor-trailer was coming off the ramp and stopped at a light on Atlantic Avenue. They say Samuel sped onto the ramp and crashed into the back of the flatbed of the truck, crushing the front end of the car.
Investigators say Samuel had severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in the passenger seat of the car was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is in stable condition.
Specifics about the speed of Samuel's car have not yet been confirmed by investigators.
