Letgo meet-up gone wrong: Man pulls out gun during cellphone exchange
A planned meet-up to exchange cellphones purchased online took a scary turn when the prospective buyer allegedly pulled out a gun last month.
Police say the victim had four expensive cellphones stolen during the meetup.
The robbery occurred on Feb. 21 around 9:40 p.m.
Investigators say a 25-year-old man came to 1203 Rogers Ave., which was the planned meet-up location, to sell four cellphones, three newer model iPhones and an lG Revel.
They made the arrangements on an app called Letgo, according to police. However, when the buyer arrived, police say he pulled out a gun, stole the phones and took off.
The victim was not hurt during the robbery.
A similar app to Letgo called Offer Up recommends that choosing a meet-up place that is well lit and safe, like a business with cameras or a police precinct.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
