Some Long Island Rail Road employees were honored Thursday
for saving the life of a Brooklyn man who fell off the platform in East New
York.
Around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, the man fell onto the tracks
and had his foot wedged between the rails.
That’s when the five LIRR employees came to his rescue.
They worked together to calm the commuter down, stop
incoming trains and prevent him from touching the third rail.
The commuter was eventually taken to safety with only minor
injuries.
