A Canarsie doctor is hanging up his white coat after more than 30 years of service.

"He's Haitian, we're Haitian, so it feel like a tight community," said his patient Josianne Delva.

Dr. Lucien Mocombe took his last royal walk down the aisle Friday afternoon.

"He's like a father that watches you in the eyes and listen to your complaints see the pain inside your eyes, that's the type of doctor he is, he's very compassionate," said his colleague Susan Grant.

He moved here from Haiti over 20 years ago with a passion to serve. He dedicated his life to his patients around Brooklyn. He told News 12 working in health care is more than just his profession.

"It's not the fame it's not the wealth but that friendship we develop with those patients, how they count on us, how we can help them. This is what is important," said Dr. Lucien Mocombe.

His patients, friends, colleagues and family were here to celebrate the man they said have always made them feel seen, heard and respected.

"The patients and Dr. Mocombe are 100% a family, which is why a lot of them have stuck with him with years. I have patients that are over 102 years old and they say I've been with this doctor for 20 something years," said his colleague Christina Gaillard.

Dr. Mocombe said he knows he's left a permanent mark in the borough and he's ready to rest.

"What next? Taking long vacation, spend more time with the family and my grandkids and the future will tell us," said Dr. Mocombe.
