Some Brooklyn elected officials are working to make the streets safer for pedestrians, especially senior citizens.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams met with other local leaders and seniors, outside of Amico Senior Citizens Center in Borough Park earlier this week.

The officials drew lines in the street with chalk to outline Adams' plans to extend sidewalks so that seniors and other pedestrians will have a shorter distance to cross the street before the light changes.

Adams' office has set aside $1 million for the proposed project.

The city planning commission will meet on May 6 and vote on whether or not to support this plan.
