Farmingdale’s Bed Bath & Beyond location will be closing its doors soon, as the retail market on Long Island continues to sputter.

The location is just one of the 150 across the U.S. that have closed but is the latest of few that have done so locally over the past year.

“I feel like they are all going out of business,” said Maria Decrescenzo, Wantagh. “Now it’s just sad because they have everything.”

The store closing is a continuation of an ongoing trend as the company restructures itself financially, too.

“What you see on the street is not necessarily what is the reality, meaning there is a development planned or that there are tenants already negotiating on those properties,” said Schuckman Reality’s Kenneth Schuckman.

Schuckman says the market is still strong on Long Island and good location stores don't remain empty for very long.

It’s unknown when another business will eventually take over the Farmingdale spot.

T.J. Maxx will be moving into the Plainview location which closed earlier this year.
