Parents of thousands of Brooklyn students attended a lottery Tuesday night that determined which children landed spots in a charter school. The lottery at Brooklyn College was held to fill 504 open charter school spots from among more than 3,500 applicants city-wide.
Organizers of the Achievement First lottery said there was a large turnout, despite many families leaving disappointed. Children who weren't chosen through the lottery were placed on a waiting list of more than 2,700.
