Lt. Gov. David Paterson made a stop at his goddaughter's Brooklyn school Friday to help celebrate Black History Month.
Paterson, New York's first black lieutenant governor, was hosted by Trey Whitfield School's kindergarten class as students sang songs and said prayers. The lieutenant governor spoke to the students about an African burial ground discovered in Manhattan.
"I want all of you to remember all of the wonderful people whose names you don't know who helped to change our lives," Paterson told the kids.
The visit was part of the school's annual celebration. Trey Whitfield's theme this year is "Celebrating Ourselves - Our Past, Our Present and Our Future."
