Police say a man who was changing a tire was fatally struck in a hit-and-run, and now a search is underway for the driver who left the scene.
It happened on East 28th Street and Shore Parkway in Sheepshead Bay just before 7 p.m. Saturday. Police say the 65-year-old victim was struck by a white Toyota minivan, which then drove off.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the minivan was found abandoned a few blocks from the scene, at Emmons Avenue and Bragg Street.
Neighbors tell News 12 that cars often speed through the area where the crash happened.
