A Lindenhurst man is charged with animal abuse after a cat was thrown into the water at Fire Island.
Detectives say a cat was trapped inside a cat carrier backpack when Christopher Garufi allegedly threw it into the bay outside of the Schooner Inn in Ocean Bay Park.
